❌👑No Kings 3 tomorrow!

No Kings 3 is tomorrow. Don't sit this one out.

America doesn’t belong to strongmen or billionaires.
It belongs to us.

❌👑No Kings 3!

Tomorrow is going to be the biggest mass mobilization in American history. It may be a little cold at our three local events, but in the Mohawk Valley we know how to dress warmly for the weather. Bring friends and signs.

In 2025, millions of Americans came together in nonviolent protest to oppose the Trump administration's growing authoritarian actions and affirm that this nation belongs to its people, not to kings. First, in June, we did what many claimed was impossible: mobilized millions of people to nonviolently take to the streets and declare with one voice: America has no kings. Then, we did it again in October, the largest single day of morally grounded protests by any movement in US history. That day, we saw over 7 million people join No Kings. Since then, people have continued to rise up against ongoing authoritarianism and federal abuses and now, a totally unnecessary and illegal war.

NO KINGS is a nonviolent national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration. President Trump is governing through fear, intimidation and hoarding power that isn’t his — the opposite of democracy. While families are crushed by the rising costs of groceries, housing and healthcare, the administration has supercharged funding for ICE to terrorize our communities. A government that truly cared about safety would invest in people and schools, not give massive giveaways to billionaires while sending masked agents into our streets.

Dress Warmly & Stand Up to Authoritarianism!

**Reminder** A core principle behind all Indivisible Mohawk Valley and No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Don’t Let It End at the Rally

Showing up on March 28 matters. What you do after matters even more.  You don’t have to do everything—choose what works for you.

3. Take action at the state level
★ New York must step up where federal leadership is failing.
★ Push state legislators to pass budget measures this spring that protect our communities and close the gaps created by Trump’s slash-and-burn policies.

4. Get involved locally
★  IMV members are already organizing around climate, health care, and immigration—and you can plug in by making calls, sending emails, and showing up when key votes happen.

The Fight for Health Care for All in the Mohawk Valley

There is a resurgence of interest in Single Payer healthcare because of the massive cuts to health care from the Trump regime.(Medicaid cuts, VA cuts, public health research cuts, etc.).  There are bills in the legislature in New York that could provide all New Yorkers health care, and reduce the overall costs of health care for everyone–the New York Health Act (S3425/A1466)  and the Home Care Savings and Reinvestment Act (S2332/2018).  This is the best chance that these bills have  had for passage in years, but it is going to take a lot of educating our state representatives in order to get them over the finish line.
IMV Member Teresa Van Etten, long involved in advocacy for the NY Health Act, is hosting  the first Mohawk Valley Hub meeting for the New York Health Act on Tuesday, March 31st. at Dunham LIbrary, 76 Main Street, Whitesboro, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Join in this fight!

Climate Crisis Working Group

New York’s landmark Climate Law is under threat—right now, in the state budget negotiations.

Governor Hochul is threatening to weaken New York's landmark Climate Law through the state budget, which is due April 1st. In response, IMV Climate Crisis Working Group members joined a wide coalition of environmental groups to rally as the final budget negotiations are happening. The message was clear: NO CLIMATE LAW ROLLBACKS in the BUDGET!

Please help defend the Climate Law by taking these actions:

Read the coverage in the Utica O/D here, and IMV Climate Crisis Working Group chair Maggie Reilly’s quote below from Citizen Action’s press release.

“The NY State landmark Climate Law as written demonstrates how New York is ready to confront the greatest threat facing life as we know it—the existential threat of climate change. At this time in history Governor Hochul and the legislators have the choice of addressing not only the climate crisis but the collapse of our democracy. True leadership demands integrity and courage. Governor Hochul, stand up to the fossil fuel industry and our authoritarian regime by removing the dependency on and volatility of polluting fossil fuel. Real leaders do not change the rules of law when confronted with a challenge but rise to the occasion with real solutions such as affordable and reliable solar power. Governor Hochul, be a world leader and transition NY State to a clean, healthy, cheaper renewable energy economy.”

Two Minutes to Sign a Petition to Reduce Plastic Packaging Waste

Help pass the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (PRRIA)  by signing this email to Assembly Speaker Heastie asking him to bring the bill to a vote. The goal is 10k individual signatures. Share the digital letter and ask friends to sign too.

Tell Congress: No War, No ICE Chaos

Call your senators TODAY and tell them to vote NO on Trump's MAGA loyalist nominee for DHS secretary. Markwayne Mullin, Trump's pick to replace the catastrophic Kristi Noem, is just as committed as Noem was to giving ICE free rein to terrorize our communities and ignore the Constitution. Mullin's Senate confirmation vote is expected as soon as today. Tell your senators to hold the line and vote NO. [ed: Vote was last evening—he is now confirmed.]

Tell Congress: DON'T FUND TRUMP'S WAR! The war on Iran has been a disaster since Trump and his cabinet of warmongers and sycophants launched it. As of this writing, thirteen US servicemembers, 1,500 Iranians, and over 1,100 civilians across the region have been killed. That carnage has already cost taxpayers billions of dollars and sent the cost of basic necessities through the roof. Demand that your senators and representative use their power to refuse Trump's demand for more money, conduct meaningful oversight, keep forcing votes on War Powers Resolutions, and oppose the war publicly.

Petitioning Request from Jon Lipe

I am looking for 20 volunteers to come help collect petition signatures for three hours on Sunday afternoon. Our county legislator for the first ward in Utica, Kellyann Mercurio, needs some more signatures from Democratic voters to guarantee her spot on the ballot. If we fail, we will lose a hard-fought seat in the County Legislature!

If you’ve been looking to help my campaign, the best way you can do it right now is to help Kelly this weekend. Any person who is a registered Democrat can come help, regardless of where you live. No rain or snow is expected on Sunday, so it’ll be a great opportunity for our final push.

We will meet up on Sunday at noon in front of the State Office Building at 207 Genesee Street, Utica.

We will provide:

- Pizza
- Bottled water
- Clipboards
- Walk lists
- Copies of petitions for Kelly and myself.

Please RSVP here

Thank you for all your help! Please let me know if you have any questions.

- Jon
