This Week: Child Care, Climate, and Collective Action
Power is Built Together
What's next after No Kings 3?
New polling data from the No Kings coalition will be released soon, and Indivisible will be sharing additional messaging around it. Early indicators suggest the largest single-day mobilization in recent history is already shaping public opinion.
Here’s a preview of the data:
57% of Americans believe Trump is exceeding constitutional authority
No Kings 3 had a +12 favorability rating
78% of the public has now heard of the No Kings movement
Approximately one-third of NK3 participants were new, with increased participation from people ages 18–29 compared to earlier mobilizations!
The takeaway is straightforward: the No Kings movement is breaking through into broader public awareness. But as we’ve said before, this is only the beginning.
What matters now is what we do with that momentum. That means continuing to share your experience, talk with people in your networks, and make sure others see what is happening. These conversations—among friends, neighbors, coworkers—are part of how movements grow.
We also need to keep building participation and increasing pressure on elected officials to respond to ongoing threats to constitutional governance and public accountability.
Keep showing up. Stay engaged. Keep building the skills of citizen participation.
Tell Gov. Hochul to Fund the Child Care Workforce
The childcare workforce is woefully underfunded, and there are NO FUNDS in the governor's proposed budget for increasing worker pay. Child care educators are predominantly women of color and immigrants, yet they are paid poverty wages despite their essential work. Join us to tell Governor Hochul to fund the childcare workforce by joining with the majority of New Yorkers who call for taxing the rich!
Governor Hochul has consistently refused to raise progressive revenue in the New York State Budget by increasing taxes on the ultra-wealthy — in the state with the most millionaires and billionaires in the country. We call on State Assembly and Senate members to immediately co-sponsor and pass the Invest in Our New York package of legislation, enabling funding for New Yorkers' priorities, NOT those of the ultra-rich.
Citizen Action of CNY is hosting a press conference on Tax Day to send a message, and IMV is a co-sponsor of the event. Please join us!

Continue to Call and Email to Defend NY’s Climate Law
Governor Hochul is threatening to weaken New York's landmark Climate Law through the state budget. The budget deadline has been extended while lawmakers negotiate.
Please Take the Following Actions to Advocate for the Climate Law.
1.Call Governor Hochul every day until the budget is passed with the following message:
“Hi, my name is ___________ and I’m calling to urge the Governor to advance-not retreat-on NY’s climate law. Expensive gas, aging gas infrastructure, and utility greed are raising bills, not the climate law. The climate law exists to support communities impacted by the climate crisis, create the clean-energy economy of tomorrow, and protect our future. Changing timelines or weakening commitments does not change that reality. Protect our planet and communities-uphold the CLCPA.”
You can also add that you would like her to support the Accelerate Solar for Affordable Power act, also known as the ASAP bill (S.6570/A.8758).
Call the Governor: 518-474-8390 (Albany) or 212-681-4580 (NYC). Messages can be left after hours.
2. Send This One Click Email to the Legislative Leaders
3. Use this tool to call your Assemblymember and urge them to stand up for our climate law! Our legislators can stop this effort to weaken the climate law by voicing their opposition to any and all attempts to change the climate law in the budget negotiations. But they need to speak up!
4. Send a letter to the Public Service Commission urging them to uphold our climate law! As Governor Hochul is trying to weaken the Climate Law in the legislature via the budget, she's also pursuing another rollback through her influence on the Public Service Commission, New York's utility regulator. A group backed by fossil fuel interests has asked them for a hearing to weaken the Climate Law. Urge them to deny the petition!

May Day: A Day of Economic Disruption
IMV encourages members to take part in the nationwide day of economic disruption on May 1. Led by May Day Strong and endorsed by Indivisible, this effort calls for no work, no shopping, and no business as usual—a collective way to push back against authoritarianism.
Across the country, people are stepping back from spending—avoiding shopping, online purchases, and other nonessential expenses—and some may also step away from work or school where possible.
If you’re interested in joining others locally, Syracuse May Day Strong is hosting a Workers Over Billionaires rally from 12–2 pm at the James M. Hanley Federal Building, 100 S. Clinton St., Syracuse. Click here for more information
Tell Congress: Vote NO on additional funding for Trump's war on Iran!
The Pentagon is preparing to request that Congress approve a supplemental funding package of at least $50 billion (we're even hearing possibly over $100 billion!) to help finance Trump's illegal, unpopular war on Iran. This comes after Pentagon officials told senators last week that only the first six days of the war cost $11.3 billion. To date, it is estimated that the U.S. has already spent nearly $15 billion on this war.
Worryingly, Democrats who have said they oppose this war are now open to voting Yes on supplemental funding. The reasoning sounds sensible to some people: We're already in it, so we have to make sure the troops are funded, and we can use the money as leverage to force Trump to spell out his goals. Neither Chuck Schumer nor Hakeem Jeffries — the top Democrats in the Senate and House — has clearly promised to vote No.
