VOTE then sign up to attend our Fall Fiesta!

Vote. Get Your Friends to Vote Too

We are asking you to vote early.  There are three days left--today, tomorrow, and Sunday.

Please also text or call FIVE (5) of your friends and ask them to vote early.
Do that immediately.  Ask friends, family, and co-workers: "What is your voting plan?"  or "When are you planning to vote?"  Drive them to the polls if you have to!  Make sure they know how important it is to vote for Democratic candidates in this election, because many of the Republicans on the ballot are MAGA or MAGA complicit.

Be sure you vote for Elizabeth Snyder Fortino and Judge Candace Randall for Supreme Court Justice.  They both have extensive endorsements from our allies and have participated in our IMV events.

If you miss Early Voting then go to your local polling place to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Everything you need to know about voting in Oneida County HERE

Everything you need to know about voting in Herkimer County HERE.

Thank you to all of you who are poll workers or poll observers or who have knocked doors, made calls, raised money, dropped literature or otherwise supported candidates.  Politics is about power, and we have to start winning more elections--local, judicial, state, and federal--in order to get the power to stop this slide into authoritarianism.

VOTE!   Then join us for a post election celebration...

Climate Crisis Working Group

Good News for Climate:
"Climate Activists Win CLCPA Lawsuit - Court Decision Mandating Hochul Implement Climate Regulations by February 2026."  A state court decision mandates that Gov. Hochul implement climate regulations related to the 2019 climate law. But, Governor Hochul doesn’t agree; as stated in Politico, Hochul criticized the decision in a statement and said she'd review all options, including working with lawmakers to modify the climate law and a potential appeal, "in order to protect New Yorkers from higher costs.”

TAKE ACTIONS:
The Trump regime is bullying and trying to intimidate all New Yorkers, especially Governor Hochul and NYSDEC, into granting water quality permits to build the NESE (Northeast Supply Enhancement) and Constitution fracked-gas pipelines. These pipelines were denied in the past due to dangers posed to water quality and those same threats exist today. If granted these pipelines would cost the ratepayers of New York billions of dollars over the next few decades.

Call Governor Hochul (518-474-8390) or email (legislative.secretary@exec.ny.gov):
“Governor Hochul show courage and stand up to Trump’s authoritarian regime, as did over 7 million Americans on October 18th by saying NO to the NESE and Constitution fracked-gas pipelines and say YES to CLEAN ENERGY such as SOLAR, WIND and BATTERIES. Implement  the goals of the CLCPA law.”

Send Letters:
The Public Service Commission (PSC) endorsed the NESE pipeline based on false claims. New Yorkers for Clean Power and Natural Resources Defense Council filed petitions to challenge this decision and request a rehearing. Send a letter in support & Send these letters to Hochul in opposition to the pipelines.

SAVE THE DATE (December 11th in Alnany):
Want to plan for 2026 and support the only energy affordability bill on Hochul's desk? Come to Albany with us on December 11th for a powerful sit-in at Governor Hochul's office. The sit-in will include teach-ins, singing, lunch, and strategizing for 2026. If interested please e-mail Maggie Reilly at margaret_reilly@mac.com

Treasurer's Report

Deborah Wilson-Allam, our Treasurer, reports that over $800 was collected at our October meeting. Our Truelink balance, funded by flow-through dollars from Indivisible and ActBlue donations and subject to 501(c)(4) restrictions, is $2806.56. Our checking account balance, funded by checks and cash donations, is $2530.43.  This is very helpful because we have annual event insurance premiums over $1000, so that we can provide a Certificate of Insurance for space rentals.  In addition, the cost of renting big spaces for a hundred or more people tends to be just over $300 per meeting.  In addition, we hope to buy a new and better portable speaker system for rallies soon, as a number of members and friends have contributed for that cause. Thank you for your generous support!

Sum Up

1. Vote early or on Nov. 4th.

2. Join us at our IMV Fall Fiesta on Nov. 9

3. Register for events related to health care, social media training, or climate activism (and be sure to see the political activism calendar below)

4.  Show up to rally in Rome tomorrow at noon or in Utica next Thursday.

5.  If you have a recommendation for a meeting space in the Rome area (and can help us connect to the right person) please email IMV@IndivisibelMV.org. Our Rome Community Circle is looking for a place for future meetings.

Inspiration

Just a week ago, Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin started talking about a campaign to force Spotify to stop advertising for people to apply for jobs at ICE. The campaign, "Cancel your Spotify subscription," is in full swing, and just days in, Spotify is feeling the pinch. Cancel your subscription and ask your friends and family members to do the same.

This is about chipping away at the pillars of support for Trump's authoritarian power grab.
Let's keep going on these targeted campaigns.  They work!

Vote like your life depends on it.  Democracy is not a spectator sport.
