Sunday, March 22nd, 2:00 pm, Trans Rights Rally hosted by Oneida County Pride Alliance, Oneida Square (near the Roundabout at Genesee, State, Oneida & Park Streets), Utica. Last year, IMV members showed up in big numbers for Oneida County Pride Alliance’s Trans Rights Rally in honor of International Transgender Day of Visibility. Officially that’s March 31, but because of the upcoming No Kings Day, OCPA is holding the Trans Right Rally this year on March 22. All are welcome.  Bring flags and signs in support

Monday, Jan. 12th, 11:00 am, Rally for the Disappeared in Albany, We are all witnessing the rampant increase in collusion between local and state agencies with ICE, as well as an explosion of 287(g) agreements across the state. Saturday, Dec. 20th, 1-3 pm.  Rally to Resist ICE Fascism at the Batavia Detention Center (Sharing from CNY Solidarity). This rally is hosted by Bill Schubert of PeoplesActionRochester. He has rallied at this Federal detention center before with no issues. The facility’s security personnel have been friendly and the 70 or so ralliers have been peaceful and well behaved.  This is a peaceful demonstration, and involves travel outside the Mohawk Valley. However, a number of our local neighbors who have been taken by ICE are at the federal detention facility in Batavia. 

Saturday, Nov. 22nd, 12:00-1:30 pm,  Rally for LGBTQ+ Rights in Rome, Along Black River Blvd near intersection with Erie Blvd. near Fort Stanwix, Rome. Join Oneida County Pride Alliance, Concerned Citizens of Rome and IMV for a special rally in support of LGBTQ+ rights. LGBTQ+ rights are under attack across the country. As we honor Intersex and Transgender Days of Remembrance, we also need to make it known that Oneida County stands for all our rights. Bring trans and pride flags as well as signs for LGBTQ+ rights.. Other signs protesting Republican assaults on rights and Trump authoritarianism also welcome at this weekly rally.

Thursday Weekly Rally, Location: Corner of Burrstone Road and French/Champlin Ave.  Park at Zion Lutheran Church (630 French, New Hartford) at the far end of the lot or park at the vacant building next to Friendly’s on Champlin Ave. If you have mobility concerns park in the Church lot right in front of the Burrstone Rd entrance.  No special theme.

Friday, Nov. 14th, 3:30-4:30pm, Rally on the Clinton Village Green, hosted by Kirkland Town Democratic Committee.  Bring your signs expressing dissatisfaction with the Republican Shut Down, Trump’s lawbreaking and failure of Republicans in Congress to do their jobs, and their assaults on the Constitution, affordable healthcare, and SNAP.

Schumer’s Office. “We are calling for Senator Chuck Schumer to step down as Minority Leader of the Senate. At a time when Democrats swept local elections both locally and all over the country and when we saw the largest public outcry against the Trump agenda with the recent No Kings rallies, we were in a good position to negotiate. One core responsibility of the Minority Leader is to keep the party’s senators aligned around strategy and messaging. And yet Chuck couldn’t keep eight senators from defecting. Thursday, October 30th, 4:00-5:30 pm.  Freedom Vigil (Disappeared in America), Alexander Pirnie Building, 10 Broad Street, Utica. Special focus for the Thursday rally this week! Stand in solidarity with immigrant families and demand an end to the detention and deportation of nonviolent, law-abiding community members.  Across the country, people are gathering outside ICE facilities, local jails, courthouses, and other centers of power to shine a light on the erosion of due process and the rise of authoritarian overreach. Together, we affirm that justice, compassion, and the rule of law must apply to everyone—regardless of immigration status. This will be a peaceful, family-friendly event featuring community speakers, moments of reflection, and opportunities to take action. There is parking in the old Dunkin Donuts lot, on side streets, and a block down State Street in the Munson lot.  It is the 24th anniversary of 9/11 so we will want to honor that day and our democracy!
