Field Organizing Wins. Take a Breath, Then Regroup.
Note: Starting next week, watch for the IMV newsletter on Thursday mornings instead of Fridays.
Congratulations to Jon Lipe and Everyone Who Volunteered!
Jon Lipe, running in the Democratic primary for the 119th Assembly seat, cleared a big hurdle on Tuesday night, winning by 264 votes. Now he will be on three ballot lines in the fall, and continue to have the support of IMV volunteers, many of whom he trained over the past nine years to win elections by having conversations with voters at their doors. Field organizing wins!
Blake Gendebien (NY21) also won his primary, and his campaign expressed thanks for the work that IMV did to help get voters to the polls in Rome.
THANK YOU to everyone who attended Meet & Greets or fundraisers and invited others to meet candidates, who petitioned to get candidates on ballots, who phonebanked and door-knocked and wrote letters to the editor so voters could learn about candidates and the various races, and who worked the polls and reminded everyone they know to go to the polls and vote.
Now we head into four months of political activism–four months that will determine whether the House flips blue, whether we get elected officials who will hold this administration accountable, whether the New York State legislature will fight on behalf of all New Yorkers against the destructive agenda of the Trump/MAGA agenda and its complicit officials. We don’t think that Jon Lipe or Blake Gendebien left anything on the field as they ran their races these past months, and we don’t plan to leave anything on the field in the months ahead.
Take a breath and enjoy the 250th anniversary of this nation’s Declaration of Independence and its profound assertion of the inalienable rights of all people. Then let’s get fired up and go! What are you going to do in the next four months to bring about the world you want to see?
Rally Against Proposed Data Center in Ilion, NY
Local musician Carson Murphy has organized a peaceful rally on Saturday, June 27, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm to raise concerns about the proposed AI data center at the former Remington Arms factory building. The building, located at 14 Hoefler Ave. in Ilion, NY, has been owned by Turin Management LLC since late 2024.
Organizers are calling on community members to “say no” to the proposed data center because of concerns about its potential impact on the local community and environment. More information is available on the Facebook event page.

Join Indivisible’s Immigrant Justice Summer Training Series
When ICE comes to your community, do you know what to do? This summer, Indivisible is giving you a blueprint.
Immigrant Justice Summer is a five-call national training series that will level up how you show up for immigrant justice. You’ll learn how to build up hyper-local networks and connect to experienced organizations to respond to ICE surges or new concentration camps in your area.
With ICE buying up warehouses and anti-immigration agencies turbocharged by the GOP’s recent infusion of $70 billion into their coffers, we all need to be prepared. By the end of our series, you’ll be equipped to mount a safe, immigrant-aligned response when there’s an emergency action needed in your community to protect your neighbors from Trump’s detention and deportation regime.
Sessions begin on July 9. Learn more and register to secure your spot here.
