❌👑No Kings Volunteers Needed!

We are just about two weeks away from the largest mass mobilization event in American history!  We need your help.

1) Volunteer.
We have three rallies, starting at 11:30 in the morning and going through to 4:30 pm. We need big teams of safety marshals at all three events. We need people at each event to serve as media spokespersons, videographers, photographers, and set up/clean up teams.  Please review the volunteer form and sign up for the tasks and roles you will take on.

2) Recruit attendees.  The main goal of No Kings 3 is to have more people show up on March 28 than we had show up for No Kings 1 in June (5 Million) or No Kings 2 in October (7 Million). Locally, we had nearly 6000 show up for our three rallies on October 18.  Even though more people oppose Trump's authoritarianism now than in October, the cold winter weather works against us. So we need everyone to spread the word and ask friends and acquaintances to commit to showing up.  Have a friend willing to volunteer with you? Share the volunteer link.

Community Events to Support Immigrant Rights

We continue to encourage training and network building to support immigrants in the Mohawk Valley, as we do not know when the Trump regime will turn its focus on immigrants and refugees in our communities locally.  Please educate yourself and build your networks with people and groups supporting immigrants.

Monday, March 16th, 6-7:30 pm, Community Conversation on Rome Police Dept. Immigration Policy hosted by the NAACP Rome Branch. Zion Episcopal Church, 140 W. Liberty Street, Rome. Featuring guests Police Chief Kevin James, Rome PD, and Jose Perez, Immigration Law

Thursday, March 19th, 6:00-7:30 pm, We Will Not Be Moved! Know Your Rights/Rapid Response in Utica, Utica Public Library, 303 Genesee Street, Utica.Join CNY Citizen Action to learn about immigrant rights, ICE enforcement, harm reduction strategies and how to form rapid response networks to protect our loved ones and neighbors. Register here for the training: .cit.ac/know-your-rights

Call to Action: Say NO to ICE Detention Warehouses

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is spending millions on warehouses they plan to repurpose as ICE detention "mega-centers" to hold as many as 10,000 human beings per warehouse. Draft layouts show "pods" in which individuals are to be held, each pod crammed tightly against the next. The risks and trauma inherent to such crowding almost don't bear mentioning -- because to do so suggests a world in which there is a good way to warehouse human beings. There isn't.

Across the country, concerned Americans have already shown they're unwilling to sit by as these new concentration camps are built and filled. Instead, they've been fighting back and winning -- even in some deep red districts. In Utah, Minnesota, and Oklahoma, from Marshall County, MS to Hanover County, VA, grassroots pressure has swayed politicians and property owners, successfully preventing the sale of commercial spaces to DHS.

Some progressive politicians have joined the fight, and the growing backlash has scared even a few Republicans into opposing the purchase of these properties by DHS -- at least, in their own backyards -- while putting everyone else, even the most loyal MAGA elected officials, on the defensive. Which makes this the perfect time to go on offense.

Email all your Members of Congress now and tell them you expect them to do everything in their power to block the warehousing of humans.

Then use Indivisible call tools to:

Disrupting the regime's plans to abduct, abuse, and literally warehouse whomever it chooses won't end ICE's campaign of terror; we still have a long fight ahead of us. When we're back in power, we'll need to strip DHS down to the studs and hold to account everyone responsible for its horrors.

But this is a critical step to laying the groundwork for that future. Let's keep fighting.

Support Jon Lipe for Assembly

Jon Lipe has been with IMV since the beginning in 2017, standing with us in the cold to protest Trump and Claudia Tenney and teaching us how to phonebank and knock doors.  Now we can't wait to see him win his primary in June and then beat the Republican in the general election in November so that the 119th Assembly district can stay BLUE (Psst...It's the only one in our region that is!).

How can you help!

1) Sign up to walk with Jon and other Dems in Utica's St. Patrick's Day parade:

St. Patrick's Day Parade Sign Up Link-Jon Lipe
Saturday, March 14, 10 am (line up is a bit earlier)
This is a fun and positive community event.

2) Contribute to Jon's campaign--even $5 makes a huge difference!

Jon's first fundraising deadline was yesterday, but today is a new day.  All donations are welcome, and donations from within the 119th Assembly District are matched up to 12-1.  That means your $5 is worth $60 to Jon's campaign, and the sooner you give the better, so that he can use the funds to win his primary election.

Climate Crisis Working Group

EMAIL YOUR LEGISLATORS TODAY AND URGE THEM TO PASS THE LEAD PIPE REPLACEMENT ACT

Lead is a dangerous neurotoxin. There is no safe level of exposure. Yet because of our aging infrastructure, NY has the third-highest number of lead pipes in the country. These pipes can contaminate drinking water before it ever reaches the tap, putting families across the state at risk. We can change that.

The Lead Pipe Replacement Act (S.6892/A.7878) would create a statewide plan to replace lead pipes efficiently and equitably- ensuring that families can get dangerous pipes removed at no direct cost, saving households up to $10,000.

Take 2 minutes to click here to email your legislators today and urge them to support the Lead Pipe Replacement Act  and include at least $100 million in the state budget to fund lead pipe replacement.

Join IMV Members on March 25th in Albany for an EMERGENCY RALLY to DEFEND OUR CLIMATE LAW

Governor Hochul is threatening to weaken New York's landmark Climate Law through the state budget, which is due April 1st. This is the same Climate Law that so many of us here, and across the state, worked hard and successfully to have signed into law by Governor Cuomo in 2019. IMV Climate Crisis Working Group members will join a wide coalition of environmental groups to rally as the final budget negotiations are happening. Join us there to urge our lawmakers to stand firm: NO CLIMATE LAW ROLLBACKS in the BUDGET!

We can’t afford any more delays—New Yorkers need lower utility bills and real climate solutions. A more affordable, healthier, and climate-resilient New York is within reach, but only if we end our reliance on costly, polluting fossil fuels.

The final budget negotiations will be our last chance to make sure the Legislature and Governor Hochul hear us loud and clear! Register here and select bus transportation from Utica. If you have questions, email jgeiger777@gmail.com.

We need help to make this event safe, fun, and publicized.

Sign up here to volunteerto help with No Kings 3.

Ever Wondered What You Would Have Done During the Rise of FascismYou're Doing It Right Now.

But you don't have to do it alone. Do it with us. Together.  And do it BIG on March 28.

What if we had big letters that spelled out a message, not just small signs?  It only takes you and six friends holding a sign with a letter to spell "No Kings." But you probably have a more creative message!

What if we had big 3D symbols at our rallies?

What if a thousand people joined together in song to let their Mohawk Valley neighbors who voted for Trump with the message that  "It's ok to change your mind?"

What if YOU made the this the most creative, joyous, and contagious mobilization the Mohawk Valley has ever seen?

Democracy is not a spectator sport.
Cowardice is contagious. So is courage.
