IMV's December 2025 Meeting on Zoom
We hope you had a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. If you had any difficult conversations about politics, or you spent a little too much energy trying to avoid such interactions, we have a way to make the coming weeks of family gatherings and social events just a little bit easier...
Please join Indivisible Mohawk Valley for an engaging and educational virtual meeting focused on Messaging & Communication. We'll explore ways to connect with others that inspire action and build community. We will review key insights from Anat Shenker-Osorio, a nationally recognized expert in strategic framing and storytelling, and discuss how her guidance can strengthen our collective voice. The session is designed to be practical and accessible so you can have productive conversations with family, friends, and neighbors during the gatherings and events in the months ahead, as well as engage effectively on social media or in Letters to the Editor. (BTW Did you see this letter over the weekend?
Since the season can get busy and the weather unpredictable, we will gather on Zoom.
Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Phone Bank for Aftyn Behn (TN-7)
Aftyn Behn, a social worker, state House Representative, and former Indivisible organizer, is running in a special election on December 2nd to flip Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District. Aftyn is a smart, clear-eyed, young leader and she's got an incredible grassroots campaign that's energizing disaffected voters across the district. She's running to feed kids, fix roads, and fund hospitals -- Aftyn is exactly the type of fighter TN-07 deserves and a voice we desperately need in Congress.
This won’t be an easy race to win -- Trump won the district by 22 points in 2024 -- but we’ve seen districts swing by that margin just last week and Aftyn has won challenging races before. Please sign up to help--this is a great way to learn and practice critical phonebanking skills we will all need to use in 2026! Sign up now and you can phonebank this evening, Election Eve, to Get Out the Vote to win this seat!

Joint Fundraiser for Rep. Mannion and Blake Gendebien
You're invited to a joint house party for Congressman John Mannion (NY-22) and Blake Gendebien, who is running to replace Elise Stefanik in NY-21.
It's critical that we hold John Mannion's seat. We also have a good chance of winning next year in Rome and the North Country: Elise is stepping out to run for Governor and Blake Gendebien is an outstanding candidate. He's a dairy farmer from St Lawrence County who draws in independent voters as well as Democrats and has already raised $4 million.
Date: Friday, December 5
Time: 5-7pm
Where: Clinton, Location available upon registration

With Gratitude and Solidarity, We Will Rise
Thank you for Not Buying It! at Home Depot, Target, or Amazon over the past week. Our national boycott continued through Cyber Monday. We've heard from many of you that you quit those three retailers long ago, and have no intention of going back. The "We Ain't Buying It" campaign is taking direct aim at:
Target, for caving to this administration’s biased attacks on DEI;
Home Depot, for colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties; and
Amazon, for funding this administration to secure their own corporate tax cuts.
How can you participate in economic activism?
Don’t buy anything from Target, Amazon or Home Depot stores through at least Dec.1. Use the time and money to connect with those you love, and rediscover what matters.
Redirect Spending: Skip the companies undermining democracy. Shop small, local, or with businesses affirming our humanity.
Cancel Spotify subscriptions because they are allowing ICE to recruit on their platform.
Boycott Starbucks as long as they continue to fight unionization of their workers.
Check out this recommendation for retailers whose owners and/or workers mostly support Democrats and progressive causes: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1KGNv8PoJX
Friends, it's been a long, long 2025. Trump and the MAGA Movement have tried to exhaust us with their shenanigans, cruelty, illegal actions, and harm.
But you have refused to sit down, refused to isolate in your own little world, refused to become hopeless or give up. Instead,
You have participated in some of the largest single day mass mobilizations ever in America. #HandsOff #GoodTrouble #NoKings
You have joined in some of the largest mass activist trainings on Zoom that have ever been held.
You have joined in mass economic actions like the boycotts above.
You have shown up again and again on street corners and in Zoom rooms, at community centers and library meeting rooms.
Thank you! You're making a difference.
But we're not done yet. We're asking you to join us Tuesday, Dec. 9th, for one hour, for our last IMV meeting of the year. Reconnect with everyone and get some practical tips for communication and messaging. We're all going to need those in 2026, the year that is make or break for democracy.
Can we build a movement that is big and broad enough to slow and then turn back the slide into authoritarianism? YES WE CAN.
We can and we will. Our movement was made for this moment.
We are Indivisible.
