What's Next After No Kings?

After No Kings: What's Next?

Thank you to everyone who showed up in the Mohawk Valley or anywhere for #NoKingsDay!  Here are the numbers we received from official counters:

Rome: 2800 at Fort Stanwix
Utica: 1500 (at least!) outside the Alexander Pirnie Federal Building
Herkimer: 550 along Albany Street near Bassett Health Center
Hamilton saw their biggest ever rally as well, with 1000 participants on the Green.

Overall estimates are that at least seven million people participated in one of the 2700+ NoKings events in the US-- and a few more around the world.  That's up from three million for Hands Off in April, and more than five million on June 14th.  Our movement is growing!  And contrary to the Republican talking points, every single event was joyful and peaceful. What's next?

Our
post-No Kings Day organizing & strategy meeting this Thursday at 6 pm at MVCC Utica campus.

Protests serve many purposes -- they change the narrative, they grow our movement, they show people reeling under the weight of the regime’s atrocities that they are not alone. But a single day of protest -- even the largest single-day protest we’ve seen in our lifetimes -- will not overcome the fascist onslaught we face.  It’s going to take ongoing, strategic organizing -- exactly the kind of organizing Indivisible was created to foster -- to deliver us from tyranny. Now it’s up to each of us to channel this incredible energy into the organizing power it will take to defeat autocracy and win.

We are asking you to take TWO action steps this week as next steps.

Action #1 Join Indivisibles and other NoKings allies tonight, Tuesday, at 8 pm for a mass call of movement leaders and activists to discuss what’s next.

Action #2 Show up in real life with your #NoKings friends and neighbors for Indivisible Mohawk Valley's October 2025 meeting  on Thursday, Oct. 23rd.

After Saturday's local rallies, we will welcome some new activists who want to get involved.   We are going to hear some quick reports from the groups that started last month and have been working on a range of actions--from electoral to community building, from rallies to media and communications.  Do you think we can fill the room with 250-300 people?  Join us!  REGISTER NOW.

Volunteers Needed for Our IMV Harvest on the Hill "Kids Vote" Table

For many IMVers the most fun event we do every year is Harvest on the Hill, where hundreds and hundreds of kids and their families trick or treat down James Street in Utica.  We have a big ballot box and kids vote on their favorite candy while we talk to their grown ups about the importance of voting --on the very first day of Early Voting!

If you can help with set up or staffing the table (yes, you can wear a costume if you want), please email IMV@IndivisibleMV.org.  We need 10-12 volunteers for this event.

You Rock, Mohawk Valley Democracy Activists!

Thank you again so much for showing up on Saturday.

We are grateful for the rally leadership teams, safety marshals, speakers, musicians, photographers, media spokespeople, chant leaders, videographers, tablers, crowd counters, poster makers, and so many more volunteers who made our rallies possible.  Months of work went into the planning, especially safety planning and planning for the program and communications.

Now we keep that energy going. We need your input to set some big goals for the coming year, so we are prepared for the year to come, including the critical midterm elections, which MUST BE A BLUE WAVE in order to have any chance of stopping the authoritarian push of this administration.  And we want to make sure everyone gets connected to the strategies and tactics that will make our pro-democracy movement stronger.  So, we can't wait to see you for our IMV October 2025 Meeting on Thursday evening, 6-7:30!

Three Actions You Can Take Now

1. Write a Letter to the Editor to
The Daily Sentinel or another local newspaper about the awesome No Kings event you attended!
2.
Call Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand and tell them to stay strong in the Trump shutdown fight!
3. Attend a protest this week:

  • The Thursday protest this week if 4-5:30 at Alexander Pirine Building, 10 Broad Street, Utica

  • The Saturday protest is 12-1:30 pm, along Black River and Erie Blvd (near Ft Stanwix) in Rome.

See you at our meeting on Thursday!

Democracy is not a spectator sport.
