No Kings Volunteers Needed
If you regularly read this email newsletter or show up for events, we need you need to do more than just attend a No Kings event on March 28. We need you to do other things:
1) Volunteer. We have three rallies, starting at 11:30 in the morning and going through to 4:30 pm. We need big teams of safety marshals at all three events. We need people at each event to serve as media spokepersons, videographers, photographers, and set up/clean up teams.
2) Recruit attendees. The main goal of No Kings 3 is to have more people show up on March 28 than we had show up for No Kings 1 in June (5 Million) or No Kings 2 in October (7 Million). Locally, we had nearly 6000 show up for our three rallies on October 18. Even though more people oppose Trump's authoritarianism now than in October, the cold winter weather works against us. So we need everyone to spread the word and ask friends and acquaintances to commit to showing up.
Start by signing up for a rally:
ROME: Saturday, March 28th, 11:30 am-1:00 pm, No Kings Rome, Fort Stanwix National Monument, 100 N James St, Rome, NY. This will be a honk and wave rally on sidewalks around the Fort. Park in the public parking lot on James Street or on streets (West Dominick) and smaller lots in the area. https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/903767/
UTICA: Saturday, March 28th, 1:00-3:00 pm, No Kings Utica, 207 Genesee Street, Utica. We’re going to have a sidewalk march around the NYS office building and have a loud and peaceful rally with great music and speakers. Register: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/903925/
HERKIMER: Saturday, March 28, 3:00-4:30 pm, No Kings Herkimer, 321 E. Albany Street, Herkimer. Join us for a Honk and Wave rally in Herkimer County. It’s our 3rd No Kings rally at this site, and we continue to grow! Register: :https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/903768/
Then, be ready to volunteer to help with a rally. We will start sign ups at our meeting Sunday, and then have more information about how to help in next week's email.
And make your list now for who you will invite to join you at a rally--people who have not yet shown up for No Kings!
Indivisible Solidarity in Action Monday 2/23
The struggle against tyranny and systemic injustice is far from new; the tactics and strategies of today's organizers are 21st century iterations of the work of communities long at the forefront, and owe an incalculable debt to Black leadership. As the late Jesse Jackson said at the 1988 Democratic National Convention: "All of us who are here think that we are seated. But we're really standing on someone's shoulders."
Facilitated by Indivisible co-founder and co-Executive Director Leah Greenberg and led by president and founder of the Transformative Justice Coalition Barbara R. Arnwine, Esq, we'll explore systemic inequities and power structures, and discuss how best to translate historical lessons into contemporary, movement-building practices.
Arnwine is internationally renowned for her contributions on critical justice issues, including the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1991 and the 2006 reauthorization of Voting Rights Act provisions.
The Solidarity in Action: Building Power That Lasts series gives Indivisibles the opportunity to learn from experts. Authoritarianism succeeds when autocrats target vulnerable populations, and those not targeted look away. We refuse to look away.
Register for the Zoom.
Petitions start on Tuesday
Starting next week you might notice Democrats popping up everywhere — maybe even on your doorstep. It’s petition season! We collect signatures so voters actually have choices on the ballot.
Please be sure that if you are registered Democrat, (or Working Families Party) you sign someone's petitions to get candidates on the ballot.
If you are on a Democratic committee locally, you should be carrying petitions. Reach out to your Democratic committee chair if you did not receive your petition packet.
If you are NOT on a Democratic committee, you can still help with petitioning. Your best way to do so is to volunteer for a local candidate's campaign, and offer to get signatures. They'll give you a list of addresses and petitions so you can knock doors.
Tuesday, Feb. 24th is the first date to carry or sign a petition. Petitions must be submitted by April 2, but generally it is a good idea to complete petitions and turn them in a week prior to that date to allow time for careful review before they are filed.
Not sure how to collect signatures or need a review? Join us at our IMV meeting on Sunday, Feb. 22. We're offering a 10 minute "How To" workshop.
Check Out Indivisible's Weekly Podcast
Did you know that the weekly Thursday “What’s the Plan?” calls with Leah & Ezra on Zoom are now also being shared on a podcast? Yes, Friday mornings is when you can listen to the Thursday show. Soooo many people love this program as do Leah & Ezra.
Send Two Letters to Albany Today
Legislative Session is moving fast in Albany right now. Budget negotiations are happening behind closed doors, and this is the moment when big decisions either move forward or get watered down.
Our ally, Citizen Action, is in this fight every day: meeting with legislators, tracking amendments, and pushing back when progress gets stalled.. Here are two of our targets that need real grassroots pressure right now:
If you care about climate justice:
Tell Albany: No Climate Rollbacks.
We fought hard to win one of the strongest climate laws in the country. Now we need legislators to reject any rollbacks by the Governor so we can fund climate action and stop delays that benefit polluters.
If you care about healthcare justice:
Tell Albany: Put Patients Over Profits.
Corporate healthcare consolidation is driving up costs and cutting off access. Lawmakers need to hear loud and clear that patients come first.
Both actions take less than two minutes. They send a direct message to your representatives and to leadership while negotiations are still happening.
Show lawmakers that real people are paying attention!
Sum Up and Inspiration
What should you tell your friends about why they should come out in central New York in the month of March for a pro-democracy rally?
Tell them: "We have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings."
What began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever.
When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence.
On March 28th, it's up to every single one of us to rise up, take to the streets, and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.
How do you want to remembered by your descendants? As someone who watched fascism spread and grow but did nothing? Or as someone who stood up against it? As a person who watched state terror destroy lives and families, and watched authoritarian billionaires steal the wealth of a country for themselves? Or who spoke out?
We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us.
Democracy is not a spectator sport.
